GDC Ramgarh in collaboration with ‘District Hub for Empowerment of Women’ “Mission Shakti”, Social Welfare Department Samba, organized ‘Digital Literacy Program by SWD and SANKALP’ under BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO scheme. The event was organized under the able guidance and supervision of the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra and DSWO Samba, Mr. Nawaz Sharief, (JKAS), Social Welfare Department.
In her address, the Principal of the college highlighted, the importance of up-skilling by improving digital skills and communication skills. Dr. Ruchi Thakur, District Mission Coordinator also spoke on the occasion and stressed on the importance of skill training of Women and girls for better livelihood. She encouraged the students to take advantage of the course and up-skill themselves. The course will cover basic computer skills equipping the girls with essential digital knowledge and training will be provided by experienced instructors.
Ms. Mansi Abrol and Ms. Ritika Banotra, (Gender specialist) from SANKALP, Mission Shakti focused on safety apps that work on women safety, like, ‘My Safetipin’ and ‘Walkalone’ app. They elaborated that My Safetipin app tells you how safe your location is in the form of a rating.Walkalone is a personal safety app that sends instant alerts with a map of the user's location to their
contacts. Alerts tell recipients that the user is in danger or doesn't feel safe.
Mr. Gulshan Dubey, Resource person for digital literacy programme interacted with students and presented the roadmap of one month long training programme.
Earlier, Dr. Shivali Panjgotra, faculty of college, welcomed the guests and spoke about the ‘Digital Literacy Program’. The programme was attended by faculty members, Members of SANKALP, Mission Shakti, Resource Person and students of the College.
